Pizza Monster!

ME HUNGRY. I think my gums are healed up enough now to eat pizza - hopefully! - So I'm gonna order a Grecian Delight. Guess I'll find out if I can chew back there soon enough, but by God that pizza WILL be eaten, come Hell or high water!

I've been an art recluse lately, just practicing and practicing - Making charts and lists and notes to myself...

Our Hero kitten is the cutest little thing in the entire world - He likes to lay on his back underneath the couch, bury his little claws in the fabric, then tear around the underside... Just like he's running around upside-down, lol. I'm surprised his back isn't completely bald...

Anyway, just a little update - Long story short, I'm burying myself in artwork! *laughs*

Ooh! Sounds like the pizza's here!!

x.x

Bleeccch, I am sorry about the lack of commenting - (I've been reading everyone's entries and enjoying them immensely, so you know!) - but I had my wisdom teeth out a few days ago, and have been a liiiil' outofit...

It's given me a chance to paint a little, though... and THAT's good!! I am so darned hungry, though! I'm craving protein like mad - if only they made a vegetarian chicken-broth substitute!

I'm totally considering blending up some Boca burgers or something.... (Ewwww!)

!@#$%

ARGH! I have too many teeth in my already very small mouth, and they're jostling each other around now (or something) and hurting a lot. :'-( I'm heading out to get my mouth x-rayed in an hour or so... unfortunately, the dental insurance that we SHOULD have through Daniel's job hasn't gone through (still - after 3 months), so we're going to have to pay for everything with credit cards and stuff. My wisdom teeth are impacted, so it's not going to be cheap. >.<

In much better news - WE GOT A KITTY!! A little orange & white medium-haired boy kitty >^o^< He's too cute for words... he likes to hang around with us (and, in fact, meows loudly and insistently when we leave the room). I am so in love with his furry butt!!

Ick, anyway... gotta go...

The sun... it burns!! :-P

HOORAY!! We're finally all moved-in and set up in our new apartment! Ohmygosh, it's gorgeous - one entire wall is comprised of floor-to-ceiling windows. I am so in love with this place! We have basically no furniture now, though - we're sitting on the floor and eating dinner on the coffee table. *laughs* D'oh!

I'd better get back to staring at the phone longingly, waiting for it to ring - We're on the waiting list to adopt a little kitty from Animal Services, and they could be calling any second now....

Eeeek!

Yaaarrgh, I am surrounded by boxes! We're going to be moving tonight - after everyone gets off work - so I'm running around frenetically doing last-minute packing. It always takes 10 times longer than it looks like it'll take... someday I'll learn, probably, maybe. :-P

Ah well, at least it's mostly organized. I always take great care to pack everything neatly & securely, and mark the contents of the box (you know - Dishes 1, Dishes 2, Books 1, Body Parts 3, 4 & 5...); However, inevitably, the last two boxes are a mish-mash of heaven-knows-what from heaven-knows-where thrown into them at the very last minute. I make sure to mark these boxes as "fragile", lest a parallel universe get thrown into the mix unknowingly (that could get messy!).

I'm going through every site on my "favorites" list, delaying packing as long as I can.

*Sigh* I had better get back to it now - At least we'll be all moved in to a brand new (er, old... but clean and pretty) apartment tonight! Woohoo!

Old friends / New days

Jiminy - There are many downsides to being an antisocial recluse (prompted by Heaven-knows-what back in middle school), not the least of which is missing out on what old friends have been up to in their lives...

My friend Denathan (Dennis-Nathan :-P) IMed me a while ago - I've known him since, geez.... actually, middle school! We got 'ta talkin', and he sent me his Myspace link to listen to some of his music:

Nathan Simpson's Myspace

The song embedded in the page is actually him - He writes the lyrics, sings them, *and* plays the guitar! How awesome is that?! Apparently he has gotten some new equipment, so he'll be able to make better/clearer recordings of his songs... I totally can't wait. He's incredibly talented!

It's strange, the things you miss out on when you remove yourself from the social web.

We were on our way out the door to go return some movies at Blockbuster... It's been raining outside all day long, and the grass is sopping wet. We happened to look over at the grass by the fence, and there was a soaking wet little ball of fur in a puddle :-( It looked like a tiny little squirrel, and we thought she must've passed away out in the cold...

But... we looked the furball over and noticed that she *twitched* ever so slightly! So we scooped her up and took her inside. After a lukewarm-water bath, a good long time spent bundled in a towel, and some very light, warm blow-drying (lol), she started moving around, and she seems to be just fine now!!! :-D :-D She's such a little cutie pie!

Here's a quick webcam picture of her:

We're gonna call the Humane Society now... so they can direct us to whatever number we need to call, hehe! What a lucky little cutie pie squirrelkin - HOORAY!! :-D

Pirates!

There is a program on the History channel right now that is all about pirates! I just caught the end of the legend of Blackbeard, and Anne Bonny is up next....

Deee-licious!!

Mmm... We ordered pizza from a place called "Wild Mushroom Pizza" last night - The crust & sauce are entirely vegan, and the cheese (I'm just a simple vegetarian! :-P) is actually the yummy melty-stringy, gets-all-over-the-place kind that you never see anymore. I got 'The Gardener'... it has broccoli and red peppers on it, among lots of other yummy things. I'm eating it for breakfast like a naughty little girl. :-)

It got me to thinkin' last night, though - Why, oh why is there not a place that delivers all *kinds* of different foods? e.g. Chinese food, pizza, subs... all of the good stuff that you have to call each individual chain for normally. Your mom could have her salad, your brother could have his meatball sub, and your kitty could have her 'All The Meats plus Tuna" specialty pizza - All with the convenience of one delivery & fee! Why has nobody done this?! I bet it'd be a hit. :-P

There was something interesting to talk about, but I've forgotten it!

Oh my goodness! I know I had lots of silly stuff to write about, but it seems to have fallen out of my slippery Scar-like mind :-P D'oh!

We ran over to our soon-to-be apartments the other day to pick up some paperwork, and we searched out the actual unit that we'll be moving into - It's perfect! It's right in the middle of the complex, with our balcony overlooking the extraordinarily pretty green courtyard (with lots of big trees - We can barely even see the apartments on the other side!). The mailbox, pool, hot tub & fitness center are all practically right next door to us, hehe - It's awesome! :-D

And we only have one neighbor - Woohoo!!

-----

And, of course, the best amenity of all: No snooping landladies who like to sift through your personal belongings while you're gone :-P (Or steal Ding-Dongs & tubs of butter....)

-----

*tilts her head* There's been far too much stress lately, I think my brain is on strike for a while... Bah. :-P Maybe I should start jotting down snippets of thoughts that I'd like to write about in LJ - At least for the next couple of weeks, until we're outta here.

Tue, May. 15th, 2007, 09:09 am

This weekend, I was a Sim.

...er, well, not exactly, I should say - But it sure felt like it! Daniel, his two brothers (Erick & Brian) and I drove up to Idaho to move their mom into a new house. It's an older 1950's house, and it's beautiful - Hardwood floors, awesome detailing, a fireplace and a gigantic picture window in the living room. It even has a laundry chute! Daniel & I slept downstairs... we told his brother to knock on the laundry chute and send any urgent messages down it in the middle of the night - lol. :-P

The 'Sim' feeling came from the almost old-town feel of the neighborhod. The entire time we were moving, different neighbors would wander up and we'd all shake hands and introduce ourselves and chatter for a while. The couple next door even brought their baby over for us to see! It was an awful lot of human interaction for recovering WoW addicts, though - I may have hallucinated a Relationship bar or two, and I'm pretty sure my Social meter is broken from overuse....

-------

I've been grumpy and was also going to make a seething post about some things going on around here, but LJ doesn't deserve the kind of abuse I'd type in it. :-P Suffice to say we'll be moving before the month is out.

Meanwhile, our oven isn't working, so I'm gonna go microwave something for breakfast; Then maybe I'll call up the "Apartment Guide" place in the phone book to see about picking one up...

Hope everyone had a fantastic Mother's Day weekend!

Fri, May. 11th, 2007, 01:47 pm
Off to the land of milk & hon.... er, potatoes?

Well, Daniel's mom & her husband are moving to their new house in Pocatello, ID... so we're driving up there for the weekend to help 'em out. I have never been to Idaho!

Hrrm, what to pack...

I assume the only REAL necessity to bring along will be plastic Mr. Potatohead accessories.

Fri, May. 11th, 2007, 08:06 am

I went about the business of registering a domain name yesterday.... DreamJourney.com is taken by a cash-parking-linky kind of deal and SketchTheRain.com has met a similar fate. I was really hoping to snag one of 'em, but no banana!

So I sneakily registered KatBurgon.com and KBurgon.com (Daniel's last name!). :-X (We are "unofficially engaged"...) It made him very, very happy and he gave me lots of hugs and kisses!

----------

I did a Google search of "Kat Burgon" and "Katheryn Burgon", and nothing came up(!!), so that's WAY nifty! "Kat Perry"s and "Katheryn Perry"s are in overabundance, it seems. :-P Maybe we're all clones.....

(At least my clone-ish tastebuds are still working - This Boca Southwestern breakfast wrap is one of the tastiest things on the planet!)

Thu, May. 10th, 2007, 12:36 pm
Whoops!

I just went to About.com to read an article about domain registration, and it had a bunch of tips from the webmaster of a Domain Registration website.... a website that now has "This Account Has Been Suspended" plastered on the front page!

Er, oops? :-X I'm thinkin' maybe I should go somewhere else for registration advice.

Thu, May. 10th, 2007, 09:49 am
Coming clean!

Alright, alright. It's time to come clean...

I have been a closet World of Warcraft addict for the past two years. *cringes!*

I am not kidding about the "addict" part, either - I was one of those people who other, casual (normal!) players would be upset about for setting the virtual bar too high in WoW. They were absolutely right - It was an unreal amount of time to spend on a game. I played for, quite literally, hours every day; Jeddums and I would sit down next to each other and play for 6 hours straight when he came home from work - Not exactly quality time... but boy was it fun! :-X

We rarely (read: almost NEVER!) went out with friends or family members (unless we were dragged limply along - I am truly surprised our muscles didn't atrophy. :-P) We didn't answer the phone. We ate a lot of pizza. It was fun, but it was empty!

A couple months ago, following several incidents of Jeddums' account password being stolen (World of Warcraft AND email!), we decided to quit WoW cold turkey. We're both slowly & groggily getting back out into the real world - Friends, family, sunlight... it's all very nice, let me tell ya! We both occasionally have urges to go back to the game, but we've become rather adept at squelching each others' WoW desires. (...does that sound wrong?)

As some form of strange closure (and to try out some new html things - The thumbnail windows pop up into larger-sized pictures! Hee!), I made a character-memorial page (of sorts.) *laughs*

(Mainly for my own reference, many years from now... The file sizes are huge!):
Link to my WoW Character's Virtual Tomb!

My ending WoW accomplishments:

- Hit Field Marshal (Rank 13)
- Had over 75,000 Honorable Kills (Player-versus-Player)
- One of the first on server to hit level 70 after the Burning Crusade expansion came out.
- One of the very first on server to buy an epic flying mount. (Which was way neat!)
- Hit Exalted reputation with 10 different factions.
- Owned an Elekk, three horses, a tiger, a ram, a "snowy" gryphon, a swift purple gryphon &
a swift blue gryphon.
- Graveyard-camped the Horde in Warsong Gulch with my PvP group for three hours straight one
morning. :-X
- Was part of a PvP group that was notorious throughout our Battlegroup - It was so darned
fun...

And I still have the White Kitten that Jeddums gave me in the game two years ago. :-)

Ahh! Freedom is beautiful! That was a long post, but it sure helped... and it'll bring back memories later on. :-)

I owe many apologies to everyone (on LJ, in real life!) - Thank you all for bearing with me! What a strange couple of years it has been... lol - Oy vey.

...And now it's time to stagger back into the real world...
--Kat >'o'<

Alive!

Whooops, it seems I disappeared from LiveJournal again, I am so bad at this!

I do the same thing in real life: Here one minute, gone the next... Let's call it "indecisive" instead of "flaky", shall we? Teehee! :-X

Really, though - Crazy times. The main reason why I have been gone is because I was working as a temporary-admin for Wells Fargo Investments during what they call "IRA Season" - The few weeks of the year before tax day when people try to get their Investment IRAs open and funded for the prior year... to get a tax break! Man, does Wells Fargo treat their employees nicely. We had a gym, a foozball table in the break room, coffee, tea, soda, and even an icecream machine!

The admin who was teaching me what I had to do (and there was alot of stuff to do...), Jody, was just awesome - She was incredibly funny! (She accidentally undercooked her husband's dinner one night and it gave him food poisoning... The next day at work, she went on all day about how she "killed her husband!" [He was really just fine, of course! :-P]) Lots and lots of fun. I learned quite a bit about investing, too... Daniel is thinking that we should play around with stocks a little bit....

Anyway! Now I am back and I have money and CANVASES(!!), and also some free time. Hooray!! I'm playing around with a big canvas right now, it so fun to be able to paint on something so HUGE (comparatively)!

Whoa, I was just looking at three beautiful roses that Jeddums brought home for me last night, and there was a big black bug on them.... I scooted him into a plastic bag and put him in the garden... he looked like a friendly little thing, but not for inside the apartment... :-P

Alright, back to painting again... finally(!)

Floggings

Yaaargh!

. . .

The girl who is 'handling' Jeddums' and my accounts at Manpower (temporary work - we want extra money to go to Disneyworld, scope out Celebration, and maybe get a cheap car... ) is a total airhead. She told me that there was a job opening for me, but they wanted to see my resume, etc. etc. - That is standard. What she *failed* to tell me is that I needed to take a mandatory test in order to actually get the job. That night, she assigned Daniel and I to temp work the next day from 9 to 5; The next morning - at 8:30am, she apparently called up and left a message saying that I need to take the test. I had no idea about the message (obviously, it takes an hour to get from our apartment to the temp job site... she knew that.) until we got home at 5:00pm (we got the job done early...)

Interesting that I didn't hear about it - Especially since that morning she met us at the job site. Later that afternoon, she came back to the job site to tell me that I didn't get the job. I was completely confused as to why I didn't get it, since I am very much so qualified.

The worst part is that if she had just told me about the test in the morning when she saw us, I could have walked over to Manpower to take it during my lunch break: It was literally about a block away from the job site! This is one in a myriad of times that she has screwed over either me or Daniel (mostly Daniel, because I just signed up a teeny bit ago.) The last time she messed up (only a couple weeks earlier...), she sent out Daniel's paycheck at $2/hr less than it should have been... and it was a week late.

Whoops, ranty! Sorry - I guess that's what my journal is used for, sometimes. Hope nobody minds... *sheepish grin* It makes it feel so much better to rant a little bit!

. . .

That said/ranted-about, I have a big, red plush rose that Daniel gave me a couple of months ago twisted into a loop, and I am wearing it on my head.

I don't know why.

Today feels like a strange day...

Tue, Mar. 7th, 2006, 01:59 am
Monkeyman

Daniel is "shedding his winter coat". Seriously, little hairs from his monkey chest are dropping off like rain.

I bet you all wanted to know that, didn't you..? Teehee!

Sun, Mar. 5th, 2006, 08:29 pm

Done! *laughs*

Ever learning, ever learning... I'm becoming quite a bit more confident, now! Hurrah! I watermarked this little one because lately I have been hearing horror stories about artwork being stolen by unscrupulous (or maybe just uninformed...) people - How awful.

2.5" x 3.5" Acrylic on Illustration Board

I'm also working on a mini spring fairy, too! I have a dire lack of canvases - since I *started* painting, really! - and I've found that it's really holding me back from doing larger paintings. I don't want to make a terrible mistake and ruin one of only three canvases I have (all of which have paintings started on them - eeeek)! Ah well. I have plenty of illustration board, for the time being...

It feels good to paint something again!

And now I'm hungry, I think I'll have cake...

Matt Groening

I just watched 'The Devil's hands are Idle Playthings' (Futurama) for the few-dozenth time, and cried at the end as usual. It got me thinking... I really, really *miss* the first couple of seasons of The Simpsons - The ones with Matt Groening and James L. Brooks as the show runners were so, so awesome. Don't get me wrong, I liked allll of the seasons of Simpsons up until the last couple - They are still funny, but they kinda make me go, "...eh?" more often than, "hahaha... teeheehee!"

But Matt Groening has some kind of magic in his blood, I swear - He is simply fantastic.

I think that I'd like to re-watch the first couple of seasons of the Simpsons sometime soon! Mini-Simpsons marathon! :-P I'm thinking popcorn....
